QUICK Wedding Gift!

Two teachers at my boy's school are getting married (to each other!) this Saturday. I just found out yesterday that there is a faculty shower for them today. No, I'm not faculty but I feel like I live there. I wanted to make them something to keep forever. And with the holidays coming up, I thought an ornament would be good.

And you all know how I love my Cameo! I started about an hour ago and while the photo isn't great, the ornament looks lovely! THANK YOU Cameo for being so easy to do. I love glass etching too!

Teacher Time - Day 6

And here we are... our final day of Teacher Time 2012! TGIF, too! And 2 weeks of school under our belt in my house. (Of course, the routine isn't sticking quite yet but we're working on it!)

I'd like to thank Jennie for a fabulous blog share/hop/link for the past two weeks. Without her, I wouldn't have made anything!

Our last theme for Teacher Time is to incorporate a die cut somewhere in your project. Hmm, well. I don't think I use them that much anymore so I had to "cheat" and figure out what to do. I stood in my studio and did a 360 to see if anything jumped out at me to use. Aha! My accucut machine was calling to me. I had a custom die made a few years ago. It is a wine bottle tag or can be used for anything really. I like it and think it's useful (when used... ha ha ha). So, I grabbed it and made a quick tag to go on my project.

I got one of those metal square tins from the $1 spot at Target the other day. I filled it with some Bath & Body Works lotion (cotton breeze!), kleenex, CHOCOLATE, Advil, mints and some hand santizer. Just a quick thing for a teacher's desk. And of course, the tag to say THANK YOU!

Teacher Time - Day 5

HELLO! Day 5 of Teacher Time is here! 

First, my girl, Jennie has BIG NEWS TODAY! She's the guest designer for Paper Smooches this month. HOW COOL IS THAT? Way to go, Jennie!

In honor of her news, our theme today is Paper Smooches Day! Make anything with paper smooches stamps! Okay, go...

Well, I think little notes are important to have on hand. I find that my son's principal can really use these to brighten up a teacher's day. During the year, I try to give her a set here and there so she has some to pass out when she needs them.

I'm experimenting with business card size... I think it's a perfect little note size. So i made a bunch and packaged them with envelopes in groups of 6 cards. Just a little something to give out to some people at school.

You can write a quick note on the back, stick it in the envelope and you're good to go. Or just punch a hole through one and you've got a tag! I love this size of card!

Teacher Time - Day 4

Happy Labor Day to all my USA friends & family! Happy last day of summer for so many of my mom friends and teachers! We are a week into school, as you know. And I'm hoping that our schedule firms up a bit and isn't NEARLY as painful as last week. First week always does ME in. The boys, however, love it. They love their teachers (as I do!) and they are happy to have a routine and see their friends.

So, it's day 4 of our Teacher Time fun. Jennie and I really are having fun showing you what we've made for our teachers. I am a little late to getting my posted today though. Our theme today is 3x3 cards. You know, as a gift set. I seem to have a problem and just can't do 1 of anything. I decided that my boy's special area teachers needed some love. They have different music, art, and p.e. teachers this year. So, yes, that's 6 more teachers! I love it though. And I can't imagine that my oldest will let me get away with this when he goes to middle school next year. So, I'm going to savor every last minute of it.

Teacher Time - Day 3

Today's theme for Teacher Time is a pack of thank you cards. Who doesn't like thank you cards? Oh, my boy's don't like to write them. We are still (STILL!) working on that. Anyway, it's day 3 of Teacher Time, where Jennie and I show you some of the fun stuff we've made for our teachers. She's smarter than I am, she keeps these gifts for later during the year and has them ready for whenever.  I can't do that. I make. Then I give. Immediately. Day of.  I'm horrible at keeping gifts for holidays or birthdays too. I want to always give them RIGHT away. 

My oldest started 5th grade this week. And he has 3 teachers that he switches between each day. They are trying to prep the kids for Middle School. MIDDLE.SCHOOL!!!! ACK. Anyway, so now I make 4 gifts just for the primary teachers (3 for him and 1 for the other). And this year, both my boys have DIFFERENT special area teachers... so that's 6 more. I haven't done anything for them yet. Soon...

My made 4 packs in a jiffy last night (because soccer started this week too! x 2 boys). I'm ready for summer vacation ;).  Jiffy will be my new word this year...

I thought the lady bugs were cute. They have diamond glaze/crystal effects on them to make them a bit 3-d and shiny.

Teacher Time - Day 2

Back again for another installment of Teacher Time... you know stuff for Teachers! :) Today's theme - CANDY. 

Well, originally when Jennie and I were planning this, our theme was supposed to incorporate the Target $ spot somehow. I kid you not... I spent 30 minutes there the other day and NOTHING inspired me. It's probably because I have a room full of stuff and I need to use it! Or maybe it's just that my stamping mojo is still on summer break? I don't know. Anyway, candy seemed like a doable theme to me. 

So, I dug around and found these cute little frosted glassine coffee bags in my stash. Hmm, when did I get those?  I had some left over dots cut out from a previous Silhouette Cameo project in various colors so I used those to enhance the bags. Filled them with chocolate! Then I stamped a tag and voila, done.

Who doesn't like chocolate?

Teacher Time - Day 1

It's the first day of school again. My boys think the fact that Phineas & Ferb get 104 days and that we don't is pretty unfair. Usually, I'm ready for them to go back by this time of the summer but not this year. I just want to hang on to summer a little longer. So, my boys enter 5th and 1st grades today. SO weird. Seems unreal.

Anyway, as school starts, it means that my good friend, Jennie and I do our annual blog hop (is it hopping if there are only 2 of us? maybe it's blog sharing?) of Teacher specific cards and gifts.  We call it Teacher Time. 

For day 1, our focus was gift card holders...

This is Texas. It's still very hot outside. Around these parts, Amy's Ice Cream is pretty well known. It's my favorite, too!  So, I thought the teachers would like a little something cool and sweet to celebrate the start of school.

Love this Get Outta Town set from Paper Smooches. I made two quick tags with this set. I had two of these Margarita Mix kits that I wanted to give to my son's teachers at the end of school. That didn't happen. Well, he had a really fun camp this week with them so I could give it to them after all. Perfect for the summer!

Teacher Time! - Day 4 (even though it's day 5...)

OOPS. I'm a big loser. I didn't get around to posting yesterday. SORRY JENNIE! I'll make up for it. Today I'll post day 4 even though technically it is day 5. And I'll post day 5 by Tuesday (maybe even this weekend if I get my act together!). Be sure to check out Jennie's blog for our week of teacher time ideas! She's so clever!

Well, my day 4 project is really fun and I loved putting it together. I hope the teachers liked them. The are Survival Kits for their classrooms. I used these bead organizers from Michael's and filled them with all sorts of goodies. Used my Silhouette SD to cut the vinyl out!

They include: highlighters, personalized pencils (with "from my son's name" on them from Oriental Trading), wipes, sanitizer, advil/tylenol, mints, cotton swabs, paper clips, binder clips, mini stapler with staples, bookmarks, liquid paper (does anyone use this anymore?), mini post-its, CHOCOLATE (of course!), pencil sharpener, band-aids, floss, and a Listerine pocket pac.

Teacher Time! - Day 3

6 AM wake up calls are already getting old and it's only the 3rd day of school! WHEW. I'm sure it'll be better in a few weeks!

Here is my teacher gift for today. I really like how they turned out. I used my Silhouette SD machine to cut out the vinyl.

These are those great big hand sanitizer bottles from Sam's. With a little Goo Gone, the labels came off.

I hope the teachers (and the kids) like them!
